Curry & Associates, Structural Engineers is an engineering consulting firm based in Charlottesville, Virginia. The firm is led by Michael Curry (Principal in Charge), a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia and California, and a licensed Structural Engineer in California, Oregon, and Washington. Additional technical staff is contracted as required.
We are a quality based, client service oriented, architectural engineering design practice that produces high quality construction documents and construction administration services. Using powerful structural analysis software, we are able to quickly consider multiple “what-if” scenarios for your project before finalizing the structural scheme.
We approach the design process as a collaborative and highly creative interaction between the design team, owners/end users, and contractors. We enjoy all aspects of the design and construction process, from the “gleam-in-the-eye” phase through completion of construction. We pride ourselves on our flexibility throughout the design process – working hard to achieve the clients’ and architect’s vision while maintaining the structural integrity of the project and developing a cost effective structural solution.
A significant part of our practice has been forensic – investigating building, or building component, failures. After identifying the likely cause of the failure, we develop a repair scheme to strengthen or replace damaged elements, and work with other design and construction professionals as required to develop measures to mitigate conditions that led to the failure in the first place.
We’re very lucky to live and work in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. and we’re able to provide services in all parts of Virginia, and California, Washington and Oregon on the west coast.
